Jack Goertzen

January 11, 1944 - March 28, 1993

After graduating from high school, Jack went to the Bethel Bible School for one year before he began his work career. There he met his future wife, Mary Heinrichs.

After Bible school, Jack got his welding ticket and worked in two shops. One was in Chilliwack and the other one was in Rosedale. When he left welding, he managed a farm equipment store. On weekends, he installed dairy equipment. When the shop closed, Jack worked at the Chilliwack School District; first as a janitor and later as a carpenter. In those years, we had our two children.

In the early seventies, we had the opportunity to start farming. First we had a pig farm in Chilliwack and then in 1974 we moved to Abbotsford to take over the family broiler farm. Jack built a trucking business by starting with just one truck. He was involved in many different construction projects in the community.

Jack died on March 28, 1993 from Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
