Hardy was born January 20, 1946, at Chilliwack, BC. He grew up on a farm in Greendale, BC and attended Sumas School form grade 1-6 and Chilliwack High School where he graduated.
Hardy's early life revolved around what was happening on the family farm, doing woodwork with his father and school, church and community activates. Hardy sang in the church choir (1st Mennonite Church) and played in his high school band.
After graduation, he worked as a painter with BC Highways, built silos and worked at a local mill.
He married Bernice Leslie in 1969 and went north for work, working as a choker man for a short time before he and Bernice moved to Fort St. James, BC where he worked at Takla Forest Products, became a certified planer man, welder and millwright. Hardy and Bernice, along with friends and family, built their first home on 5 acres, where they raised pigs and chickens. He took part in many activities (fishing, hunting, X-country skiing, snowmobiling, church exploring the wilderness and "Music Makers" and enjoyed fun times with friends and family.

Over the years in 100 Mile, Hardy belonged to the Lone Butte and 100 Mile House Fire departments, coached minor hockey, played a bit of old timers' hockey, attended church, built another house with the support of family and friends, and enjoyed taking part in many other community activities and connecting with friends at BJ's. Hardy was known for his smile and happy demeanor.
His last years were difficult for him due to dementia. Hardy passed away peacefully at the 100 Mile House Hospital. Many thanks to our family and friends for their loving support throughout the years, and more recently the home support staff, doctors and nurses.
